Although I grew up in the Greater Toronto Area, I have always maintained a strong passion for the great outdoors. Hiking through the old growth forests in B.C., camping in Muskoka, and enjoying the scenery of Lake Louise and Georgian Bay, are just a few of the many experiences I have been grateful to have. I have always been drawn to the beauty and wisdom of nature, the connection and oneness with the plants and animals around us. This passion for nature inspired me to graduate with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences degree from the University of Guelph. From there, I went on to pursue my Master of Science in Biology degree from the University of Victoria, furthering my love and connection with nature.
Like many, I have also struggled with health concerns that frequently impacted my everyday life. Having researched and tried various treatments and medicines, I was unsuccessful for years and felt defeated, until I discovered Naturopathic Medicine. It taught me to determine the root cause of my symptoms and address their underlying issues. Getting to the bottom of why I was facing these challenges in the first place, ultimately helped me heal and fully recover. This fundamental principle of Naturopathic Medicine, along with the concepts of individualistic treatment and treating the whole person as one interconnected unit, drew me to Naturopathic Medicine and made me fall in love with the field.
Having gained a new direction in life, I enrolled in a four-year, full-time Doctor of Naturopathy program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. There, I learned evidence-based naturopathic medicine, research and clinical practice. During my last year at the college, I was able to intern and practice at numerous Naturopathic clinics in Ontario and an Urgent Care Centre in Brampton, gaining the necessary skills and knowledge to help my patients on their healing journey.
I also had the opportunity to volunteer with Naturopaths Without Borders, which turned out to be one of my most cherished experiences. We went to the hilltop villages in Northern Thailand where we were able to provide treatment and medicine to the residents, who otherwise had no access to healthcare. From this experience, I learned some imperative lessons that I hold close to my heart: healthcare must be accessible to all and each individual must be treated based on the uniqueness of their own journey. I truly hope to continue to foster these principles and values throughout my Naturopathic career.
Having found my calling, I want to support and encourage people to take charge of their own health and healing. This can be done by working together with my patients to find the best treatment that fits their lifestyle and resonates with them. Medicine is more than just a prescription; it’s about education, prevention and providing tools to help one get healthy and stay healthy. Naturopathic Medicine combines all this with the knowledge of traditional healing, the wisdom of nature and the science and research of current medical practices to provide optimal healing. My aim is to apply the foundational principles and tools of Naturopathic Medicine to help assist in the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of healing for all of my patients
