About You...
Are you a teen or young adult struggling to cope with constant worrying or depression? Are you experiencing stress and difficulties at school, work, or in relationships? Do you find you’re frequently doubting your abilities, beating yourself up about mistakes, or ruminating over flaws and imperfections?
Or perhaps you’re a parent who has noticed signs of anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem in your child. Using an integrative approach to therapy, I’m passionate about supporting young people and helping them learn psychoeducation and skills to cope with a variety of mental health challenges.
About Me...
I have a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and I'm a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. In addition, I am a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I previously obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queen’s University, and afterwards spent ten years working in education and small business management. Then, life experience and my own personal therapy motivated me to re-evaluate my goals and I was inspired to embark on a career in helping others.
My experience includes running programs and offering support at the Military Family Resource Centre, facilitating an Anxiety Support Group with the Canadian Mental Health Association, and I have been a Crisis Responder with Kids Help Phone since May 2020. I’m always looking for courses and training opportunities to continue to learn and grow in the field.
I integrate several evidence-based approaches into my treatment plans, including solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT), dialectical-behaviour therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based therapy, and positive psychology. Gottman and Emotion-Focused interventions are incorporated into couple therapy plans.
Therapy doesn't only have to be about discussing your problems and the things that are going wrong. I also like to help people build on their strengths and things that are going right.
We can work together on taking small gradual steps to living a happier life!
