Attend a community workshop! With the vast array of community-based events and workshops at the tips of your fingers in Kingston, I challenge you to sign up and learn something new. For example, did you know you can compost your pet waste? Hearthmakers Energy Cooperative, a member of Green Communities Canada will be hosting a series entitled: Compost Pet Waste at Home this coming July. The workshop will teach attendees how to safely dispose of pet waste by going over how composters, manure digesters, and mini-septic systems work to break down waste safely. The compost can then be used as fertilizer for non-edible trees and bushes. Attendance is free or by donation; register here. Or maybe you are interested in yoga? If so, consider attending one of the free Sunday Morning Yoga sessions in Battery Park. For dates and times, click here. Whatever activity you choose, approach it with an open mind and an eagerness to learn. ~Alanna
